HoA-RISES Project Manager SETCO

Duty Station: State of Khartoum
Reporting to: Program Coordinator
Duration: One year with possibility of extension based on Performance with three-month probationary period

HoA-RISES Project Manager will be leading the Sudan’s implementation of the Horn of Africa Regional Integration for Sustainable Energy Supply (HoA-RISEs), the proposed new 500KV interconnection line between Sudan and Ethiopia. Specific responsibilities include:
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Engage in the selection of technical staff needed for the project implementation.
Prepare necessary tender document and launch necessary procurement activities, with the support from the procurement specialist. Monitor the contractor’s performance closely.
Review and update as necessary the technical aspects of the proposed new interconnector, based on the existing feasibility study.
Carry our Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of the new line, based on the existing feasibility study and in compliance with the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework, with the support of the safeguard team in the program unit.
Ensure the project’s overall compliance with the World Bank’s ESF, with support from the safeguard coordinator.
Coordinate closely with Sudan Electricity Transmission Company (SETCO), Ethiopia Electric Power and East Africa Power Pool Secretariat.
Prepare project operation manual.
Carry out field site visits as necessary.
Prepare periodic project implementation report, as required.
Build the necessary capacity of the project staff.
Perform other related and relevant assignments

MSc degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering or in a related field.
At least 10 years of experience in electricity transmission sub-sector.
Strong experience in electricity infrastructure project management.
Experience in working with donor-funded project is a plus.

Strong oral and written communication skills in Arabic and English.
The HOA-RISES Project Manager reports to the Program Coordinator.

Duration of the Assignment: The assignment will be for one year with possibility of extension based on evaluation of performance
