The job Description:
The newly registered European Chamber of commerce in Sudan, a privately run organization dedicated to advocate European businesses in Sudan, better position European investment and increase trade between Sudan and Europe, is looking for its executive director.
Position Title: Executive director (ED)
Duty Station: Khartoum, the Republic of Sudan.
Contract Type: Full Time (40 hours)

Mission
To provide a “backbone support services” for European private businesses and their affiliated agents/dealers to have better access to the Sudanese market as the primary role of the European Chamber is to advocate for and represent its members. The ED will Communicate and embody the company vision and values and provide leadership at all levels of the organization.
Main Objectives
Within the scope of his/her work, the ED is expected to carry out the following activities (including but not limited to):
1) Assessing challenges and risks which are affecting the companies (potential members) working competitively in Sudan. Collecting and conducting a market research analysis on trades, business and investments in the private sector;
2) Facilitating the work of i) the Founding members to steer the foundation process of the chamber and ii) organize meetings and set agenda of mutual interest;
3) Organizing and conducting meeting(s) with the founding members to discuss the ECCS business plan, functional and organizational structure of the ECCS, estimating Financial and human resource plans.
4) Preparing ECCS business plan (medium and long term strategy) which includes operational action plan for easier implementation, projecting the set up cost estimates (human resources, running costs, equipment, technical assistance etc…).
5) Build up the company by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and mentoring new talent and defining the functional structure of the legal status, registration, bylaws, mandate, hierarchy, etc.
6) Formulate terms of reference for market and feasibility studies and commission them as the need might arise by ECCS members;
7) Initiate and organize, roundtable meetings, presentations, workshops and other relevant activities with different stakeholders
8) Reach out to potential ECCS members with the aim of expanding the membership base
Qualifications and skills
• Master’s degree in any of the following fields: International Business, MBA, Economics, Business Development, Private Sector, Trade and Investment, international relations or any equivalent professional experiences.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills, especially with international businesses and public agencies at central and state levels.
• Written and oral fluency in the English language is essential, while knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
General professional experience
• At least five (5) years of work experience in the area of business development, feasibility studies market research, business enabling environment, economic development/or project, private business institutional building and business development advisory services.
